Holiday Traditions

When the Holidays roll around there are traditions each Family celebrates and honors.  Many Holiday traditions were created by our ancestors but families can always create new ones.

Family Traditions help make the Holidays special as well as make memories for years to come. They help celebrate the fact that your family is special to you and who you love the most.  These are times that help create some of the most precious moments and memories for years to come.

As a family you can celebrate long established traditions or create your own, beginning right now by decorating your home for whichever holiday is coming up.  Just a few touches is all that is necessary to bring holiday cheer into your home.

You may have old traditions that are no longer realistic as a result of a move (from cold country to warm country) or changes in income or the arrival of a new baby.  Don't be discouraged by the fact that you cannot celebrate a tradition you have always celebrated.  Traditions are not set in stone so explore creative ways to honor old traditions while accomodating recent life changes.  You might not be able to go out to the neighborhood pond to ice skate or fly to see family for the holidays but you could go to an ice rink instead or use skype so you can touch base with and see everyone even if you can't be there in person.  For every tradition that you loved, there is a way to adapt them.  Don't be afraid to be creative!  You might find that you like the new version(s) better.

Traditions are an important part of any family and can be as simple as going each year to the city Christmas festival or going to one anothers home for a cook out.  They can also be as simple as  having the children hand out the gifts to open Christmas day or dying easter eggs together before Easter.  Whatever Holidays you celebrate, honor or create Traditions you can share with family each year.   Cherish and keep these family traditions alive don't forget them or let them vanish.

Some Traditions differant families have shared with us included going to Church for Christmas eve for the Holiday presentation, opening gifts on Christmas Eve, having A wonderful Meal with everyone for a selected holiday each year, having certain dishes and desserts each year, Playing holiday games together, going out to sing carols in the neighborhood, delivering thanksgiving dinners to families in need.....  There are so many ways to honor or establish traditions for you and your family.

Whatever you do, we hope it creates wonderful memories for you and your family to share for many years to come.

Do you have a tradition you would like to share?  Don't hesitate to share your own traditions in the comment section.
